American Tribal Style and Tribal Fusion Belly Dance Classes are held weekly around the Triangle Area of NC. Nandana also periodically offers workshops.
Nandana has been dancing since 1994 and teaching since 2001. She specializes in
Tribal Fusion belly dance as well as being certified in American Tribal
Style belly dance by Carolena Nericcio of FatChanceBellyDance.

12:30pm - 1:45pm: Performance Skills and Technique
Dates: Feb. 28- March 28, 2010 (5-week session)
This class is for advanced beginners and intermediate students. You must be proficient with the Basic Level 1 movements as they will not be taught in this class.
In this session, we will continue to work on the tribal format of lead and follow, moves and combinations used in this style of dance, posture and technique as well as continuing rhythm recognition. This will be a fun and challenging class!!
This class is designed for the dancers who want to take their dancing to the next level! We will focus on a variety of subjects including: understanding musical rhythms and how to dance to them, using your space, interaction with the audience, increasing your dance vocabulary, learning group improv, zil patterns, facial expressions and so much more!

2:00pm - 3:00pm: Get To Know ATS and Tribal Style Belly Dance!
Dates: Feb. 28- March 28, 2010 (5-week session)
This class will focus on learning the foundation moves used in ATS and Tribal Style belly dance as well as the format of lead and follow. This class is designed for beginners and those with some belly dance experience. Each session will focus on a new topic or set of movements, improving dance posture, technique, as well as dancing with zils (finger cymbals). We will incorporate the foundation Tribal moves into combinations, a choreography or work on the fundamental skills of lead and follow. This is an exciting class for anyone interested in belly dance.
Nandana has been certified to teach General Skills for American Tribal Style (ATS) belly dance by Carolena Nericcio, director of Fat Chance BellyDance. These movements are used to perform lead and follow, solo improvisational dance and choreographies.

This session will feature a lively choreography suitable for beginner students
Tribal Belly Dance Technique class is suitable for all levels of ability - no previous dance experience is required. These classes are presented in a Tribal Fusion Style format, and will feature moves and combinations suitable for all levels and styles of dance. Fundamentals of belly dance technique are emphasized, as well as dance posture, arm positioning, safe ways to warm up and cool down, tips for performing, and most of all, how to have fun and enjoy yourself while learning this beautiful art form. Zils and hip scarves are available to borrow or purchase; students should wear comfortable clothing, and are encouraged to wear light socks, dance shoes or bare feet during class. Ages 14 and up. Drop-ins are welcome if space permits.

February 17 - March 17, 2010 In this session, we will be learning a lively zil choreography that is suitable for students who have had previous tribal belly dance experience. Participants will have the option to perform the choreography without zils, but proficiency with advanced beginner to intermdiate level tribal belly dance moves is a must. Level 2 Tribal Belly Dance is geared toward continuing tribal belly dance students as well as those beginner students who are looking for a bit of a challenge. Mastery of tribal belly dance technique, the lead/follow format, improvisational skills, tools for creating combinations and choreographies, musicality awareness and zil skills will be emphasized. Speciality topics will also be included in many sessions of Level 2 classes. These classes will help you be the belly dancer that you've always wanted to be!
